JOYS OF A FOUR LITRE
It was just another of those summer mornings; nothing special or spectacular about it. I did not know that my day would begin in a revealing way. There was no power supply as authorities believe that people are using electricity to run pumps directly on the incoming water mains and such a thing deprives hundreds of others their much needed supply of water. I have a strong feeling that this doctrine needs to be examined for such treatment by authorities constantly reminds public that they are ordinarily lesser mortals and gain their true stature only once in a while during the General Elections.
So, on this fateful day I stood in the bathroom, getting ready for the day. Absent mindedly I had started the tap and the bucket below it had started filling in. As it was nearly a quarter full I realized that I did not need to fill the bucket as I was looking forward to a shower bath, as today was hotter than usual. As I was about to throw that quarter filled bucket of water, my inner voice asked me what I was up to! I was about to throw a few liters of water that is so precious. Is it right? What can I possibly do with such an inconsequential quantity of water? Try taking bath, what else; came the answer. Reluctantly I took a mug from the bucket, it was only half filled, and poured over the head only to discover that I was wet from tip to toes. I looked at the remaining water in the bucket and was surprised to see that I had used only very little from what I started with. And now that I was fully wet I was actually pleased that what I was attempting was likely to work. I soaped myself using the water as a miser would use his money and stood there with my eyes closed, thinking may be it was time to quit playing miser and start the shower. Wasn't it a warm morning? Didn't I promise myself a treat under the shower?
Once again the inner voice said, 'Why don't you finish what you started and then see if you feel alright?' So I took small fills of the water in the mug and each time I poured a little over the head, I would rub the whole body with my stern hands to wipe out the layers of soap on the skin. A thin layer of water would remain on the skin; it would evaporate and leave me cooler than the previous attempt. In five attempts I was on cloud nine, not only was I feeling cool on a warm day, but also I was more alert than usual due to stern rubbing of the skin. I stood there enjoying the feeling and then my eyes fell on the shower knob. It was then that I realized the water from the shower would not make me feel any cooler than I already was. And then I stood for some more time and thought, 'What if more people could discover the joys of such Four Litre Bath and what could it do for a water starved nation if more people attempted it. It was then I thought of writing this piece. Yet, I am not sure you would like it. If you like it, pass it on as your story only after having discovered the JOYS OF FOUR LITRE BATHS yourself.
